Press:

It’s really funny, smart and witty, with a real spark to it.  The themes and characters might be aimed squarely at the target CBBC audience, but the smart and sophisticated tone helped to notch it up a level.

BROADCAST; Award Winner review

As Julie Bower's comedy about three smart, yet socially clumsy teens swings into season three, Lily worries that her school grades might suffer as a result of having a new boyfriend. ..  A fourth series has already been commissioned, a measure of this show's mix of warmth, savvy and light surrealism.

THE GUARDIAN

So Awkward is the best show ever! I am going to cry when the series ends:(

OFFICIALLY SPECIAL

Channel X for Sky Living ‘Love Matters’ season

30’ One-off rom com

Written by Bede Blake

Starring Katherine Parkinson, Emma Pierson, Steve Edge, Ian Smith

Press:

Officially Special was special.  Written by Bede Blake, it starred Katherine Parkinson as an adjudicator at a simulacrum of Guinness World Records.  The meta-joke was that her work life recorded the exceptional, while her private life was below average.  What was outstanding was the dialogue.  Her boyfriend, whose job was to carry a placard with ‘INTERNET’ and an arrow on it, proposed to her while taking her up the London eye, which as she said, was not an euphemism.  She prevaricated.  “Is it because I am a sign”, he asked.  No, no.  “I know you are just doing that while you break into…poetry”.  Gimme more.

THE LAST CHANCERS

angel eye media for Channel 4

5 x 30’ series, commissioned from a broadcast pilot

Written by Anthony MacMurray & Adam Buxton

Starring Adam Buxton, Kevin Bishop, Steve John Shepherd, Emma Pierson

Press:

Very well observed and will strike a chord with anyone who has done a toilet tour in a Transit van.

THE INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY

Less try-hard and more caring than most new comedy.

THE GUARDIAN

This is much funnier than a sitcom about an amateur rock band has a right to be….it’s fun and well-observed and you’ll find yourself caring about the loserish characters.  This idea has (as ZZ Top might say) got legs.

THE RADIO TIMES

The Last Chancers is a realistic, ‘the kids are alright’ drama that will ignite the passions of rock stars of all ages.

THE OBSERVER

Full of beautifully observed situations and characters, it’s a joy from start to finish.

D.O.A

Channel X for BBC Three

Written by Roger Beckett & Gary Martin

Starring Kris Marshall, Karen Turner, Cavan Clerkin, Catherine Shepherd, Robert Wilfort, Kevin Eldon

Press:

…a dark comedy pilot that manages to juggle on-screen projectile vomiting with washed-out, Getting On-style camerawork and wry gags about alligators as pets. At points it's a little too Psychoville, but with Kevin Eldon and Karen Taylor on board, it really should be turned into a full series.

THE GUARDIAN

Meet the Magoons

IWC for Channel 4

Written by Hardeep Singh Kohli

Starring Hardeep Singh Kohli, Nitin Ganatra, Paul Sharma, Sanjeev Kohli

Press:

There's something to be said for laddish behaviour when you see it celebrated in this supremely daft yet appealing comedy. It's about four young Asian cousins who work at a Glasgow curry house and have an amusing ability to wind each other up relentlessly while at the same time getting into silly scrapes. It's rather like watching the misadventures of a boisterous family that never stops bickering.
